Though I started it thinking I would keep it updated, I have not been able to do so. Well as most people know I have made it to Iraq and have been here for almost 3 months. My journey to Iraq took me from San Diego, CA - FT. Bragg, NC - FT. Dix, NJ - Kuwait, then to Camp Bucca, Iraq.

Time has gone by fairly quickly since I started this journey that they call deployement. Work is time consuming, yet satisfying and every day brings new challenges. It is through God, family, friends, and fellow soldiers/sailors that I am able to get through the challenges of each day. So about what I do, believe it or not I hold many hats. I am an Information Systems/Operations/Admin/Civil Affairs officer. Most if not all people hold many jobs during a deployment so its not like I am the only one having to fill the shoes of many people.

Related to work, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with the local populace to ensure a more stable Iraq when the United States leaves the country. The ability to help others always makes doing a deployment that much easier.

Through my IT experience and expertise I had the great opportunity to travel to Jordan to look at future prospects in my area of the country of Iraq. If anyone ever gets a chance to travel to the Middle East, Jordan is a very beautiful country and well worth the stop. I was able to go to Aqaba, Jordan on the Red Sea and also see Wadi Rum. Amman is a beautiful yet modern city, yet full of a rich history waiting to be explored. As I stated it is worth the stop if anyone ever makes there way to the Middle East.

Well I hope this fills some in on what I have been up to, and I will not say that I promise to write all the time. But I sure hope to write a little more often than I have been.

NMPS - First days of the adventure

Well my adventure thus far has been a whole bunch of hurry up and wait. I understand that there are many of us going through this process and things take time. But, working in the civilian sector I have come to appreciate a more efficient process. Apparently the Navy and military still has many issues in being efficient.

So far I have the spent most of my days going through the medical process and ensuring that I am injected with enough vaccines to cure a small village. Overall though I will come to appreciate the fact that I am immune to many of the viruses that cause so many deaths in countries that are less fortunate than the U.S.

I look forward to experiencing the many aspects of what this adventure will bring. I fully understand that there will be times where I unhappy with the process. But, through faith and support from home I will get through this adventure with new found understanding of the situation in Iraq. Until my next update....
